App force close when extending AppCompatActivity

Is seen in the screenshot I have specified the appcompat theme in the manifest but the app still crashes. There’s no error during build.

Maybe try to check error response. In Android Studio error response can be seen via ADB, Logcat.

Make a Debug Activity in this app, it will prompt to you if you’re app crashes at run time in a dialogue
